Summer Fridays has released a new flavor of their award-winning Lip Butter Balm, Sweet Mint, and I’m here to tell you if it’s really worth it or not.
I have tried plenty of lip balms in my years. From lip smackers in my adolescence, to Aquaphor when I couldn’t find anything to my liking on the market. Now, my collection is quite extensive because I need a lip balm at my side 24/7. I have one in every purse, in my car, by my bed, you name it, and I’m sure there’s a lip balm tucked away or close by. Listen, I’m a girl who thrives off of hydrated lips.
About a year ago, I came across this gorgeous lip balm holiday gift set. There was a full-size lip balm, in addition to three tinted minis in other flavors. So of course I had to snag it – actually I asked my grandma for it for Christmas and she came through. Any guesses on what this holiday set might’ve been? Summer Fridays. This was my first introduction to the award-winning Lip Butter Balms. This set not only allowed me to try out the formula but gave me the option of different flavors and tints – to be honest, the full size un-tinted lip balm paired with three mini tinted lip balms was genius for numerous reasons. Regardless, I have been hooked ever since. The way it left my lips feeling hydrated, while also looking like I applied a gorgeous lip gloss was unmatched.
For those of you that don’t know Summer Fridays, founded by Lauren Ireland and Marianna Hewitt, launched their infamous Lip Butter Balm (LBB) in March of 2020, with the first flavor being Vanilla. Within the past three years, they have launched six new flavors – including Vanilla Beige, Coral, Brown Sugar, Pink Sugar, and Cherry – and we can now welcome the newest flavor, Sweet Mint. The best-selling lip balm is a fan favorite for its buttery feel, the hydration it provides, gorgeous tints, and can’t forget about the yummy scents/flavors. It has taken social media by storm on platforms like TikTok and has gotten many Best of Beauty Awards each year since launching, but let’s go over what’s so special about the newest flavor.
Do you really need Sweet Mint?
Sweet Mint has a sheer tint and is perfect for on the go or used as a “refreshing overnight mask.” This is due to the formula which consists of key ingredients like shea and murmur seed butters, vegan waxes, and sweet mint flavor – a recipe for hydration and shine. As someone who was never a big fan of mint, I really wasn’t excited about this launch as I have been in the past for other and to be honest slightly nervous because mint is an overwhelming flavor. Nonetheless, when I received it and opened the enticing flavor, I was immediately hit with the minty flavor… but in a sweet way. It was not as overwhelming as I expected it to be. Instead, it brought a sense of nostalgia. It reminded me of when I was younger getting mint chocolate chip ice cream after school – deliciously creamy, it kind of made my mouth water.
Besides the scent, upon application, I realized an immediate slight cooling effect, which the other flavors do not have. I don’t know about you, but I love a good cooling effect on my lips. It gives a feeling of freshness and rejuvenation. I also noticed the cracks in my dried lips instantly filling – this is found in all of the lip balms, but good to note because it shows consistency.
Overall, the riveting formula is not too thick, or greasy, and its main focus is to naturally condition your lips with a flavorful flair. The LBB has also received a Sephora Clean seal, is vegan, and made from recyclable packing, which is an all-around win for me.

Final Verdict
While many of consumers love the product, not everyone is a fan of the price. For a lip balm, it does cost a pretty penny, but if a product does exactly what it claims to, then I have no problem in investing. I always say, I’d rather quality over quantity and the LBB is quality – plus a little goes a long way.
From the hydration to the shine to the delicious, not overwhelming flavor, the Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm in Sweet Mint has won me over. I may go as far as saying it’s my favorite flavor out of the now seven.
